Growing up in Moab, Utah, I’ve always been inspired by the vibrant colors and landscape surrounding me as well as the vibrant community of local artists. I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember, spending countless hours as a kid drawing anything that happened to be in front of me. Later I moved on to photography and finally was introduced to oils in college. Since then, it has been my medium of choice.
I took a long hiatus from art in my 20’s, but after moving back to my hometown with my young family, I picked it back up again. It was then that I did a deep dive into learning everything I could about oil painting. I started slowly, working on one painting for weeks, then discovered the daily painting movement. I tried my hand at finishing 30 paintings in 30 days and was hooked. I do still occasionally work longer on some pieces however, I prefer how a painting comes together in one sitting. While oil is my main love in art, I’m also drawn to ink and gouache.
