Colors are emotional. For emotions to be definable and useful , they need a little container. In this painting, I did a cloisonné of emotions: ivory black contours surrounding high-saturation color.
I might rework this painting a bit. See how it goes.
For starters, I might try exaggerating value and temperature contrasts:
1. darken the darks relative to the lights. Give "shape" to the shadow. Don't "feather" out the shadow. Minimalize "tonality".
2. warm the darks with transparents and cool the lights with opaques.
3. minimize reflected value and color, leaving shadow-contrast more dominant
4. maybe exaggerate perspective with temperature change rather than line.
