One of the first paintings I bought for myself was an oil painting by Everett Thomas of the southwest desert covered in a beautiful blanket of snow. I feared when moving to the Utah desert from Colorado that snow would be absent from my life. While it is not as plentiful, it does come and is every much as beautiful as snow in Colorado or anywhere for that matter. Snow is very pretty! One day, not long after our first snow of the season, I was hiking and shooting photographs in the Sand Flats area. This painting is a rendition of one of my photos showing the contrast of red rock, junipers, and snow along with lovely shadows. This painting will be featured in our own Winter in Moab show – January 2019.
