Gallery Moab Guest Artist for March will be Randall May. His Reception will be Thursday March 1st

Randall May grew up on Glade Park, which is just east of the La sal mountains in Colorado.  Growing up in the mountains, he developed a love for wildlife, ranch life, animals and nature in general.  Living far from town they had no TV or telephone, so Randall entertained himself drawing while his mother read stories.  He spent a lot of time hiking or riding his horse.

When Randall and his family moved to Moab for about four years, he felt right at home with the area.

He can remember his father and the family crossing Dewey Bridge in a brand new Ford F-250 four wheel drive.  They had to pull the mirrors in so the truck would fit.  He has seen cattle drives across that bridge. “ always thought I might paint that seen”, he says.

Randall’s artist grandmother took many trips into the Canyonlands and surrounding area , in an old Willy’s Jeep to paint for a few days.  Randall has followed in her footsteps and spent a lot of time in the back country from Ruin Park, Canyonland, Arches, the River Road and the La Sal mountains.
