 I revisited an earlier painting for this because  I identified with the image of the farmer, up before the dawn to change the setting of the dam to irrigate a different segment of the field. When I was 11 years old my Dad told me I could have the income from a 5 acre patch of potato’s if I would water the 80 acres adjacent to it. I jumped at the chance. That gave me the experience of watching the sun come up on several occasions, of listening to the night under the canopy of the stars, and hearing the neighbors starting morning chores just at dawn.
