New to Gallery Moab - Dan Norris Photography

Peggy Harty / Comment on this

In July of 2020 Dan Norris joined Gallery Moab.  We are honored to have some of his stunning photographs, postcards, and photo magnets available in our gallery.  This is a photo of "Faux Falls" near Ken's Lake in Moab, Utah.  When one peruses his photos and that of many fine photographers it is clear that it takes dedication, persistence, and passion to chase after the truly mesmerizing images.  Up before dawn, and in Dan's case, out late at night capturing the starry sky, it seems he is always in the right place at the right time!

Below are 2 of the images currently available at the Gallery.  They are 20x30 metal prints.  Prints are also available in other sizes which can be ordered and drop shipped to the customer.  Dan is offering free shipping anywhere in the U.S.

Here is how Dan describes his photographic adventure:

A photography trip to Moab in 1986 was a life-changing event for me. I fell in love with the spectacular scenery of southeast Utah’s canyon country and the challenge of capturing on film the incredible light, landforms and remnants of ancient cultures. In 1989, I began conducting photo workshops to the area and in 1992 made Moab my permanent home.

I began making the transition to digital in 2005 and the majority of my images have been made with Canon digital equipment since 2008.

In addition to workshops, I started self-publishing my photographs on greeting cards in 1989 through Ancient Images, a company I founded and operated for 20 years. I have been featured in two instructional photography videos, HIGH DESERT IMAGES and NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY. My photographs and/or photos with articles have been published in numerous photography magazines, on calendars, posters, cards, all types of promotional materials and used in national /international advertising.

Currently, I am co-owner of Tom Till Tours in Moab. We offer customizable, private tours for individuals or small groups up to 4. Our tours are tailored to match experience level, physical abilities, and interests. We offer hands-on instruction in the field. Our website is tomtilltours.com  With the advance of digital photography technology, there are many cameras now capable of capturing night landscapes with star trails or the Milky Way and more and more people want to learn how to do it. I have lots of late nights these days.

I love sharing the landscape and cultural heritage of the Southwest, sharing my images and teaching others the techniques for capturing high contrast landscapes at sunrise and sunset and night landscapes"
